PROBLEM STATEMENT: Abound Food Care (AFC) is an Orange County based nonprofit that helps organizations distribute excess edible food to communities in need, reducing food waste and food insecurity. However, AFC has trouble scheduling events and organizing their volunteers with inconsistent availability.

SOLUTION: We will be creating a volunteer management system for AFC to better connect with their volunteers and engage them in organizational events.

Reflection

This project was the first project I've worked on that was for a specific customer with specific and direct goals, wants, and needs in the system. I absolutely loved this project because of the communication skills I developed working with other talented designers and researchers along with AFC themselves.

The greatest thing I was able to learn from this project was about project management skills. Since I was the lead designer on the team, I was additionally in charge of creating a schedule and timeline, delegating tasks, and communicating with the developers. I often felt like I did not know what I was doing when leading the team, but by the end of the project, we were able to mesh cohesively and deliver designs that we were proud of. I definitely have an even greater appreciation for project managers now!
